Biolumina is a living space where artists pause, listen, and create with intention. Here, art grows slowly—like roots, like stars, like stories shared under tropical skies.
We are process.
We are play.
We are planting.
We are Biolumina.
-
Biolumina is an artist-led residency program that invites creators to explore their practice through nature, time, and reflection. It’s a space to disconnect from noise and reconnect with process, purpose, and place.
-
The program offers a private studio, a natural and inspiring environment, and flexible time to create without pressure.
Artists are invited to engage with the community through workshops, studio visits, land art projects, or screenings. -
Biolumina takes place in Vieques, Puerto Rico, among the gardens of Casa Mi Rey—a blanc brutalist home that crowns a hill overlooking the sea.
The studio, open to air and light, breathes with the island.
Around it, the land invites land art, performance, and experimentation in dialogue with the landscape. -
Biolumina is not focused on production, but on transformation. It centers process, presence, and community. Residents are invited to leave a trace — whether through artwork, planting a tree, or shared experiences with the island.
-
Biolumina was founded by artist and curator Marco Caridad, whose interdisciplinary work bridges identity, memory, and belonging. His vision shapes the residency’s focus on care, experimentation, and poetic dialogue.
-
Biolumina is a project of Fundación Casa Mi Rey, a nonprofit organization supporting contemporary artists through programs that blend art, nature, and community. Fiscal sponsorship is provided by Arts Legacy Foundation.
-
