Public encounters allow residency processes to circulate beyond the studio. Each proposal starts with the artist’s practice and develops with a collaborating space: a school, cultural organization or gathering place on the island.
Biolumina’s collaborations have led to school exchanges, open demonstrations, free workshops and presentations of work in progress. We are interested in the continuity of those relationships and what each encounter makes possible.

Biolumina brings together work from each cohort in an annual residents’ exhibition. Each artist in residence is required to donate one artwork for the exhibition; the work becomes part of Fundación Casa Mi Rey’s collection. The exhibition and the residents’ contributions are brought together in a book publication.
